Dr. Michael Goheen, Director of Theological Education, MTC, and Scholar-in-Residence, Surge Network
Michael Goheen is Director of Theological Education (MTC) and Scholar-in-Residence (Surge Network) and Professor of Missional Theology (Covenant Theological Seminary, St Louis). He is married to Marnie and they have four adult married children and eleven grandchildren. He lives half of the year in Tempe, AZ and the other half in Surrey, B.C. Tyler Johnson, Redemption Church – Lead Pastor
Tyler is the Lead Pastor of Redemption Church in Arizona. Redemption is a mutli-congregational church with 10 congregations throughout the state of Arizona. Tyler has ministered on college campuses, developed and participated on church planting teams, initiated and lead mercy ministries, and has been actively involved in city movements. He is a Raymond Bakke global scholar with a doctorate in Global Urban Transformational Leadership from Bakke Graduate University. Tyler is a founder of the Surge Network, on the board of New Learning Ventures and the advisory board of Covenant Seminary.
Chris Gonzalez, Missio Dei Communities – Lead Pastor
Chris is the Lead Pastor of Missio Dei Communities in Tempe, AZ. Chris helped plant Missio Dei in 2008 as a movement of missional communities that gather together for worship and equipping weekly. Having grown up in New Jersey and Memphis, Chris moved to Arizona in 1997 to study at Arizona State University. He received an MA in Human Communication from ASU. He also received an M.Div. from Phoenix Seminary in 2001. Chris also serves as a co-director of Surge Training School, chair of TEAM an interfaith group in Tempe, and on the board of directors of Tempe Community Council. Chris enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife, Leslie and three amazing kids.
Jim Mullins, Redemption Church – Pastor of theological and vocational formation
Jim Mullins is the pastor of theological and vocational formation for Redemption Church in and helps lead the Surge Network in Arizona. He has worked as a pastor, entrepreneur, nonprofit leader, and a basketball scout in Turkey. He’s the co-founder of several organizations, including the International Guild of Visual Peacemakers, Uzbek Justice Initiative, and Peace Catalyst International. He’s married to Jenny, and has a six-year old daughter named Elliana. They spend their time watching basketball, cooking Middle Eastern food, and being completely ineffective gardeners.
